THE PARENTS of a 13 year-old who threw himself out a 24th-floor apartment window, after playing Warcraft for 36 hours straight, are suing the distributor. According to the Beijing Times, the parents want $12,500 from China Cyber because they failed to warn of the inherent "dangers" of Warcraft.
And, in fact, no-where in its small print does Blizzard Entertainment, who made the game, mention that throwing yourself out a 24th-floor apartment window could be a side-effect of the game.
The parents say that, in America, Warcraft has a 'T' rating, where it's only suitable for children over 13. But they were not made aware of that. China Cyber Port clearly knew that the "violent" and "bloody" content of Warcraft was unsuitable for minors, they say.
Unfortunately, most any game played for 36 hours straight could drive people out of a window. Imagine what more than 36 hours on Microsoft Word could do to you....continued... www.theinquirer.net/?article=31638
Oh, the insanity of some people. 36 hours? Isn't it the parents' fault for not noticing their kid playing for 36 hours straight or not doing anything about it? My parents didn't like me going past 5hrs, and I think the most I ever went was 6, possibly 7 hours.
