The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) today requested Indians to stop buying leather products manufactured in the country. They alleged that animals used by Indian leather traders are herded together so brutally while transportation that often their bones break even before they reach slaughter houses. Quite a few of them are also suffocated to death in the process.
Reportedly, animals are killed in full view of each other at municipal slaughter houses.
